Marketing Consultant & Website Copywriter for
Therapists and Natural Health Businesses
From Therapist, Educator, and Researcher
to Marketing Consultant and Copywriter
My fascination with how the human mind works combined with my desire to help people led to a career in mental health. I completed a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and then worked as a therapist, educator, and researcher/writer focusing a lot in the area of family violence.
It wasn’t always easy wearing these 3 hats, but I enjoyed the variety in the work and how the roles complemented one another. I loved my work, however, after 20 years of working in mental health, I was ready for a change.
In 1999, I studied business coaching through several institutions. I also studied online marketing and copywriting and hired my own marketing coach. Within a few years, I became a marketing coach and copywriter for therapists and natural health businesses.
I weaved my skills from my therapy career into my new business: I transferred my people skills as a therapist into marketing coaching and consulting; my research skills into becoming an avid student of marketing; my writing skills into website copywriting; and my educating skills into developing and delivering workshops and online webinars and courses. As they say, the rest is history.
I offer a marketing approach that is grounded in integrity.
The foundation of my marketing consulting and copywriting business is based on honesty, authenticity, and transparency. Ethical practices are crucial in marketing if you care about your customers and clients, as well as the credibility of your business. In addition, you need to be comfortable with the way you market or you won’t enjoy it or do it. If you feel “icky” about the marketing tactics you use, your results will be limited in the short and long term.
At the same time, you *do* need to promote your practice or business and communicate the value you offer in order to be successful. My job is to help you do that in a way that honors who you are and what you uniquely have to offer. This means that I’ll suggest what I think are the best options for you based on your specific situation and goals. I’ll also explain the rationale behind my suggestions. In the end, however, will always support your decisions even if they go against my advice. My goal is to help you make *educated decisions* that will work best for your practice or business.
I’ve been involved in the online marketing world for 0ver 19 years.
My ongoing quest for up-to-date knowledge motivates me to read a vast amount of marketing books and blogs, as well as take dozens of marketing and business courses. It’s important that I show you the most current and effective marketing tactics and strategies because the world of online marketing is constantly evolving.
I am a talented marketing consultant and copywriter for therapists and natural health businesses.
In addition to being a skilled marketing coach, I’m passionate about what I call the “magic” of copywriting. I can guarantee that you won’t find a copywriter online who has a fraction of the experience that I have when it comes to writing compelling copy.
Copywriting is using scientifically proven principles to make the words you use on your therapy website connect with your audience so that they contact you. When web copy is targeted and enticing, it can seem like magic in how it converts website visitors into clients and customers. But, not only does compelling copy that applies the proven principles of copywriting help you attract more clients, it can significantly reduce the time you spend marketing. Why? Because you’ll convert more of the people who visit your website into customers and clients.
I know more than your average marketer about websites that convert.
While my specialty when it comes to therapy websites is copywriting, I also study and advise my clients on issues of website usability (how people navigate websites, what keeps them on your site); website conversion (what it takes to convert website visitors into clients and customers); and on-page search engine optimization (how to optimize your web pages to rank as high as possible in search engines). And while I don’t do web design, I keep up with current design trends so that I can help my clients make informed choices about their website designs. I also refer my clients to talented web designers and developers.
I’ll help you quickly determine what’s wrong–and fix it– with my incisive assessment and problem-solving skills.
As a marketing consultant and copywriter for therapists, I’m known for my ability to laser in and focus on what is important. I’ll help you cut through overwhelm and confusion –the “too many ideas syndrome”–and lay out a concrete structure with exact steps to follow. You’ll be crystal clear on what you need to do and when you need to do it.
My therapist background aids me in helping you overcome any internal obstacles that are getting in your way of being successful.
Mindset and habits -not just marketing know-how– account for at least 50% of business success (I’ve heard other marketers say that these account for up to 90% of one’s success). Due to my understanding of the psychology of people, I’m confident that my ability to help you resolve any blocks in your beliefs and attitudes about business, marketing and your ability to succeed, outshines those of many other marketers.
I’m passionate about leading mental and physical health services and products–you know, the ones you provide.
My business is focused solely on helping counselors, holistic practitioners, and natural health businesses -people like you. I share your interest in high-quality mind and body health services and products. I make an effort to keep up with recent research in these fields and use many health and healing services and products on a regular basis.
I also love practicing yoga and have ascribed to a Buddhist philosophy for over 30 years–long before the concept of mindfulness became popular. I make an effort to be healthy, spend time in nature, and live a good life here in beautiful Vancouver, BC.
The long and the short of it is–I “get” you.
Ok…enough about me.
Let’s talk about YOU…
