Blab Instructions for Business in Bloom Interviews
Below are the details for using the Blab (www.blab.im) platform – the technology that we will use for the interview.
I like to give detailed instructions to avoid confusion.
Below you will find:
– instructions for what you need to do BEFORE the interview
– instructions for the technology test
– instructions for the day of the interview
– interview questions that Juliet *may* ask you
BEFORE THE INTERVIEW – DO THESE NOW
Please do these 4 things now:
1. Sign up for Blab (if you haven’t already):
You need to sign up for www.Blab.im with your Twitter account if you haven’t already. The ONLY way to sign up for Blab is with a Twitter account. It’s easy to sign up – just click on www.blab.im and follow the instructions. But, this article can help if you feel you need it: https://www.julietaustin.com/how-therapists-can-use-blab/
2. After signing up for Blab, go to the link for your particular Blab that I have sent you and “Subscribe” to the Blab.
3. If you don’t have Google Chrome on your computer, please download it (the Blab technology doesn’t work properly on other browsers, not does it work properly on mobile devices.) Here is the link to download Chrome if you don’t have it on your computer: https://www.google.com/chrome
4. Ensure you have a headset or earbuds with a microphone (those used for a smart phone will work fine). It’s important to use a headset, otherwise we may get feedback during the interview.
FOR THE DAY OF THE TEST BLAB
If you are new to Blab, we will need to do a technology test before the date of the interview to ensure you know how to get on the platform.
About 5 minutes before your scheduled time for the interview follow the steps below:
1. Use your computer, not a mobile device (Blab won’t work properly on a mobile device).
2. If possible, make sure you are using a wired connection to the Internet. Video streaming can be slow or stall on a wireless connection.
3. Plug-in your headset or earbuds with microphone. It’s important to use a headset/mic with earphones. Otherwise we may get feedback.
4. Open the Google Chrome Browser (other browsers will not work properly on the platform).
5. Close all programs on your computer except Google Chrome.
6. Ensure any notifications are turned off for any applications that make a sound.
7. Make sure your sound preferences on your computer are set for the correct headset/microphone that you are using. See instructions on this page for both PC and Mac if you are unsure:
https://www.julietaustin.com/technology-instruction…
8. Sign into Twitter.com and into www.Blab.im (if you are not already signed in to both).
9. **Juliet will send you a special test link via email a few minutes before the time of the test** – so check your email about 2 minutes before our scheduled time for the test to get the test link. Once you receive the test link, click on it.
10. Then once you are in the Blab, click on the big round circle you see in the screen that says, “Call in”.
You can watch this short (under 2 minutes) video tutorial on what to do once you click on the special test link that I will send you:

If technology is not your best skill and you need help or have questions about the above, please let us know before the date of the test.
If you have trouble connecting on the day of the test, call Juliet right away at 604.730.8844 and she can help.
FOR THE INTERVIEW DATE
About 5 minutes before the time of the interview follow the steps above. The only difference between the interview and the test we do will be the link you click on to join the Blab interview. You will click on the link for our actual interview (NOT the same link as we used for the test.) The link for the actual Blab interview is in the email that we sent to you.
We will send you email reminders for the test and for the interview with the correct links, the day before each.
Again, if have trouble connecting the day of the interview, call Juliet right away at 604.730.8844 and she can help.
INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Here are some questions Juliet *may* ask during the interview. There is no need to prepare anything. They are included here so you know what to expect. Spontaneous answers tend to be more natural than rehearsed ones. This is an interview, hence it will be a conversation, not a presentation.
– Tell me something about your business/practice. Who your customers/clients/patients are and your focus for helping them.
– What was your motivations/inspiration for starting your practice/business?
– How do you generate revenue (what services, products or programs, do you offer)?
– What marketing activities did you/do you use to build your practice or business?
– What was your most difficult time in building your business? A “failure” or time of struggle and/or doubt?
– What was the best moment in building your practice/business?
– What are the core reasons for your success?
– What advice do you have for others building a practice/business?
Questions about anything above?
