Dr. Jacqueline Peters has combined her experience and training as an executive, team, and relationship coach into a model for creating positive relationships in her book, “High Performance Relationships”. In the interview, she talks about the similarities between healthy relationships in the workplace and in couples. She has a lot of interesting experiences, theories, and research that she brings together in her book to form her model of high performance relationships.

[14:45] Jacqueline’s first career was as a speech and language pathologist.
[16:25] Jacqueline explains that she never planned to work in corporations offering training and coaching. It was something that evolved for her.
[17:22] Jacqueline shares that her books are another type of “business card”. They help her acquire referrals.
[19:59] Jacqueline explains that she doesn’t necessarily like writing. She states that what helps her write is to be passionate about her topics and to write with a partner.
[26:06] Jacqueline states that she first worried that she didn’t have anything new to share in her writing. However, she later realized that everyone has a unique perspective and therefore, has something useful to say.
[27:40] One of Jacqueline’s challenges in running her business is managing her energy. There are times when she has been too busy. At other times, her business is slow and she, therefore, has to manage her mindset so that she doesn’t worry. Another challenge has been marketing – it’s not been easy to “sell herself”.
