Highlights From Episode 32
In this episode we answered the following questions:
Question 1: Debby Heath – Australia Counselling Member – http://debbyheath.com.au – “How do you manage information overload?”
Clinton’s advice on how to manage information overload is to be very strategic in managing your time. He stated that you have to evaluate the benefits and potential outcomes of spending time on an activity. Assess if it will move you towards the results you want to get. Clinton stated that Facebook is a great example of where you can lose a lot of time and get little in return.
Clinton shared another tip: He suggested unsubscribing from newsletters that you’re not opening or reading. When pressed for time, it is better to focus on content creation, and less on content consumption.
Juliet stated that time blocking is the key to time management since it’s so easy to get sucked into social media and reading blogs. She suggested blocking out time in your calendar and then following it.
Question 2: Gabby Mookhoek – www.gabbymookhoek.com.au – “How do I attract my first counselling clients when starting out?”
Clinton suggested doing volunteer work or an internship to get experience when you are first starting.
Juliet stated that there is no magic solution to getting your first clients. You have to determine how much time and energy you want to put into marketing. She also stated that you need to have a lot of patience, as it takes time.
Question 3: Yoli Cadet – from The Ask Juliet & Clinton Show Facebook Group – “Should I use a free website builder or purchase my own domain name?”
Both Clinton and Juliet agreed that you should not use a free website builder for your therapy or natural health website. They stated that free website builders often take more time and money in the long run because you’ll outgrow them eventually. They suggested using a WordPress self-hosted website, which you can get at wordpress.org (not WordPress.com).
