Highlights from Episode 2
Question 1: Andrena – “I have been advertising on Facebook and haven’t gotten any clients calling me to make an appointment. How can you entice someone to call and make an appointment from Facebook ads?”
Juliet explained that generally speaking, people advertise on Facebook to gather leads to build an email list and a fan base, and then they market to their audience often by email. People are not on Facebook looking for a therapist for the most part- they go to Google for that. Therefore, Facebook is probably not the best place to advertise directly for clients. You would likely get better results from Google Adwords.
Question 2: Barbara – “What is the difference between marketing and PR for the layperson like me?”
Clinton explained that marketing is about communicating your message to people, what you offer and the benefits of your services or products. PR (public relations) is about building relationships with the media so that they report on you and your business. You need to have a compelling story to be featured in the media.
Question 3: Sandy – “How can I know that the marketing tactics I use will be effective?”
Juliet stated that there is no way to be 100% sure that your marketing will work. There is always some risk involved. What works for some people, may not work exactly the same for you. You need to take educated risks in marketing. Learn about the best practices in implementing any method of marketing and then try it and see what results you get.
Question 4: Cara – “How much should I spend on a website?”
Juliet and Clinton state that there is a spectrum of what you can spend on a website. You can do a low-cost website– a Do It Yourself website– or you could spend up to $3000-$4000 or more on a website. Keep in mind that a professional-looking website can help you bring in more clients and customers.
